Ramapo Traffic Impact Announcement

Parents/Guardians,

This Friday, October 27th Ramapo High School will be conducting their mandatory bus emergency evacuation drills in the front of the school from 7:00 AM – 7:40 AM. As such, we expect some impact on the morning traffic flow and student drop off area. Please plan accordingly and allow extra travel time tomorrow.

As a general rule, drivers need to practice courtesy, responsibility and patience. Please be mindful of pedestrians.

Please be mindful that parking / idling in the faculty parking lot during school hours is strictly prohibited by local ordinance and posted signage.

Ways to ease congestion:

  • Allow buses the right of way and access to the drop-off/pick-up areas first
  • Keep the traffic moving as much as possible
  • Please drive as far forward as you can towards the gymnasium entrance doors when dropping off in the morning
  • Pull up close, but at a safe distance to the car in front of you
  • Do not cut in line, pass other cars, or take short cuts
  • Do not leave your car in the drop off area while you go into the school. If you need to go into the school, please park in a designated visitor parking space
  • In an effort to limit traffic and increase pedestrian safety, dropping off in the student designated parking lot is strictly prohibited
  • If you have to wait in a no parking zone, stay to the right, close to the yellow curb, and do not leave your car unattended
  • When picking up at dismissal, do not idle / wait in the pedestrian crosswalk or near fire hydrants

Thank you – Mr. Travis Smith, Principal
