Guidance Department Events

District College Night
A panel of college admissions counselors will address the admissions process from “their side of the desk” at the District College Night. The October 2022 panel included James Madison University, Michigan State University, Ramapo College, Sacred Heart University, San Diego State University, and Washington University in St. Louis. The 2023 panel will be held on Thursday, October 23rd. Participating colleges will be updated closer to the event date.  

Freshman Parents Information Session
A welcome session to Ramapo High School with an overview of what your child can expect academically and extracurricularly. This information session will take place as part of the APTS meeting in September 2023. Please review information regarding the APTS on the RIH Website. A QR code is posted for easy membership. 

Community Service Fair
The Community Service Fair is held annually at Ramapo High School during the lunch periods. Non-profit agencies will be distributing information about their organization. Students will also have the opportunity to speak to agency representatives about volunteer opportunities. Students in all grade levels are encouraged to reach out to these organizations. Many volunteer opportunities exist during the school year as well as during summer vacation. The RHS Community Service Fair is scheduled for Friday, September 22nd. 

Class of 2025 Information Night
This presentation by the Guidance Office will provide an overview of the following topics: the use of Naviance in the college search process, college visits, the responsibilities associated with the college process, standardized testing, NCAA eligibility and scheduling options for senior year. This presentation will be held  on November 16, 2023. 

District Financial Aid Night
The Ramapo Indian Hills Guidance departments will host a Financial Aid Specialist from the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA). The HESAA Specialist will review the FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid) and discuss college funding sources. This program is hosted annually. The date for the 2023 information session is Thursday, November 2nd 2023. 

RHS Alumni Forum
The Alumni Forum features RHS Alumni reflecting about their transition to college life. This is an annual event to benefit students in gaining insight on the college process and transition.  The Alumni Assembly will be held on May 30,2024 for current students. 

Sophomore Conferences
Parents/ Guardians of Sophomores and Sophomore students are traditionally invited to a Guidance Information Session offering insight to maximize preparation for the College Application Process. Information about College Testing, the College Search Process and Planning for a Productive Summer will be some of the topics addressed. In an effort to foster a stronger rapport with sophomores and their parent/guardians, conferences will be arranged with each student and their individual School Counselor in late December 2022 / January 2023. 

Senior Scholarship Awards
The annual scholarship awards presentation will be held on June 6, 2024. Members of the Class of 2024 will be  presented with financial scholarships from private sources and local organizations. A senior will receive formal notification through the mail if he/she is receiving a scholarship. Information regarding the scholarship opportunities available can be found in Naviance. 

Senior Merit Awards
Members of the Class of 2024 will be invited to attend an assembly to recognize outstanding achievement of our seniors in the academic areas. The Merit Awards will be held on June 2024. This special awards ceremony is organized by the Building Principal and hosted by RHS Supervisors.
