Statement Regarding School Violence

Dear Ramapo Community:

The news about Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida is very tragic and disturbing. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to all affected by this unthinkable act of violence.

This morning I addressed the incident with our students, staff, teachers, and also at the APTS meeting.  I assure you that we work together as a community, and with the help of local law enforcement, to help keep our school as safe and secure as possible. We continue to evaluate our security procedures in order to employ the best practices that support a safe learning environment.

Attached are documents that we have shared with the staff to foster open, and constructive discussion about school violence with our students. We share them with you as well in order to help facilitate communication with your children at home.

Please know that we take the safety and security of our school community very seriously. If you have any questions, concerns, or insights, please do not hesitate to contact me.
