Matthew Chagares Receives Benjamin Franklin Book Award
As the founder of the University of Pennsylvania, Benjamin Franklin first defined and implemented Penn’s fundamental educational philosophy in 1740. Through its alumni associations, the University of Pennsylvania annually presents a book award to a high school junior who best exemplifies the qualities and characteristics of Benjamin Franklin: a scholar, innovator, and one who serves the community.

Matthew Chagares has been selected as the 2017 recipient. Matthew is enrolled in the most rigorous courses available, competes both as the Captain of the Academic Decathlon team and member of the Boys Soccer team. He serves the Ramapo community as the Class of 2018 President and is an active volunteer tutor at Camp YDP in Paterson. Matthew is highly regarded by his peers, faculty, and staff for his strong personal character.

Please join us in congratulating Matthew Chagares on this recognition.
