Ramapo Senior Cole Bickford Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

It was an exceptionally meaningful Memorial Day weekend for Ramapo High School senior Cole Bickford, who officially achieved the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

The Eagle Scout rank is the highest achievement attainable in the Boy Scouts of America program, requiring years of dedication, leadership, and community service. In addition to receiving his Eagle Scout award, Cole—a dedicated four-year member of the Ramapo Jazz and Marching Bands—lent his musical talents to the community by playing "Taps" at several local holiday events. He honored servicemen and women at ceremonies in North Haledon, as well as both the Fireman’s and Veteran’s Memorial Day services in Wyckoff.

A Lasting Contribution to Memorial Field

For his required Eagle Scout service project, Cole chose to give back directly to his local community by enhancing one of Wyckoff's most popular public spaces.

Cole planned, coordinated, and led a large team of volunteers to construct an oversized, Wyckoff-themed Adirondack chair at the Wyckoff Memorial Field complex.

The extensive project involved:

  • Building the custom, town-themed oversized chair.
  • Pouring and installing a permanent concrete pad.
  • Designing and planting the surrounding landscaping.

In total, the massive undertaking required 233 hours of community service and saw Cole successfully manage and lead 50 volunteers to bring the vision to life. The new addition provides a wonderful spot for community members to gather and enjoy the park for years to come.

The Ramapo Indian Hills School District congratulates Cole on this monumental achievement and thanks him for his outstanding leadership, artistry, and dedication to our community!
